If I Were A Kid Again

This song was written by us, Jonas Villca, Iván Piacquadio and Jazmín Rojas for an English work in wich we had to create a musical piece using Passive Voice, 0 to 2 Conditional and Past Tenses. We decided as the topic of our song growing up and how childhood often seems easier, happier, and more magical compared to what we feel now or in the future. The main idea of our song is the feeling of regret of wanting to grow up too fast as a child. Because now that we’re teenagers, we are starting to see that being older comes with responsibilities, stress, and fear, that when we were children, being an adult looked exciting, but now we understand that it is not as simple as we thought. And thats why we chose this theme because all three of us feel this change happening in our lives, and we wanted our song to reflects that feeling. We used simple metaphors to show emotions, like “the world is painted bright and gray” to describe how life feels different now, or “the stars would still be mine” to talk about childhood dreams. We repeated lines like “If I were a kid again" and “Rewind to past” to show how strongly we wish we could go back to easier times. “If I stay up late, I get told to go to bed” - A common childhood rule “If I get a real life job, I will buy my own years” - A prediction “If I were a kid again, I would dance in the rain” — A wish We used passive voice in lines like “my hand is burned” and “bills are paid but laughter’s gone.” to show things that happen to us and to emphasize the action rather than who does it. In conclusion, our song mixes creativity, strong feelings and the grammar we had to use for the assignment. Writing it helped us express how we feel about growing up. We now understand that childhood was more special than we realized, and the song shows our wish to return to those simple and happy moments.
